There is nothing worse than the realisation that you are standing in your own way of reaching your dreams or goals.
How? By giving in to the resistance you feel and procrastinating.
I know that feeling, I’ve been there and done that!
You don’t have to think about it like you are standing looking over the precipice. Think of it more like What is the first step I can take in the direction I want to go?
It could be buying a journal and start writing down your goals, what steps you can take to get there and then choose 1 daily step that starts putting you in that direction.
The idea that small steps will get you to where you want to go keeps you from feeling the overwhelm of big goals and dreams and keeps them within your reach by being achievable.
So for instance, if you want to run a marathon, you start by spending your first week with a set distance, say three kilometers. This is where you start to get into the habit of daily exercise and achievable goals. No one is expecting you to run this distance on the first day or even by day 5.
The idea behind doing small achievable goals every day is to start training those physical or mental muscles into a new habit or routine. You will probably walk this distance with small spurts of running for the first few weeks but soon you will be jogging this distance with ease without even noticing and your goal will change to 5k and so on.
Look at what is the first step you can achieve today that keeps you on your path to your goals or dreams and do it. You will feel great!
